BIO
Todd Anderson began his musical career, at age 15, in the San Francisco Bay Area and was part of the "East Bay" sound, made famous by the Tower of Power. He played and recorded with Cold Blood and the Loading Zone and appeared countless times at the original Fillmore West.

He then migrated East to the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he received a degree in Compostion and then joined the faculty specializing in harmony and arranging.  Eventually he moved to New York City where joined congaro Ray Barretto's band for ten years. He recorded many albums with Ray, the most reknown of which is the Fania classic "Rican Struction".

Commit To Memory


Todd Anderson first came to the attention of the general public for his work on two classic latin jazz albums by composer/vibist Bobby  Paunetto, "Paunetto's Point" and "Commit to Memory". He was a featured soloist and contributed several compositions / arrangements, the most well known of which are "TAZ" and "Dragon Breath". The critics of Latin New York magazine twice pronounced him Latin jazz soloist of the year for his work on these Grammy nominated albums. He was also one of the main recording engineers for "Commit to Memory" and is listed as one of the producers along with Bobby Paunetto and Jim Czak. These albums have recently been reissued by R.S.V.P. Jazz Records as a double CD entitled Commit to Memory / Paunetto's Point.




His most recent release, "FRAMED", is a tenor trio featuring Scott Neumann-drums, Boris Kozlow-bass. One standard, two Monk tunes and six originals. Renowned jazz pianist /composer Andy Laverne says: "Todd Anderson's FRAMED is at the top of my favorite listening list. It's the hippest trio recording in years!" Tenor saxophone master Jerry Bergonzi: "Todd sounds great with this trio, the perfect setting for his unique style." Sonny Rollins' pianist for 15 years Mark Soskin: "Todd Anderson's rich tone and wonderful sense of adventure is perfectly captured in FRAMED".

Todd also plays a major role as player, engineer and producer of Bobby Paunetto's latest release "Composer in Public", also available on R.S.V.P Jazz Records

A member of the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop for 9 years and an arranging instructor at the Berklee College of Music,Todd has a backlog of great jazz ensemble arrangements including many for big band. Check out audio samples and scores at the Composing/Arranging page.

Todd has also composed and recorded 11 CD's of Production Music for Valentino Music which have been used extensively on television shows and films around the world.
